Ian Perkes began as a fish retailer in 1976 and has since extended both wholesale and export arms into the business. The progression into exporting was a natural move considering the fish landed into Brixham is primarily Dover Sole, Monk tail, Turbot etc.
The company also provides a service to the catering trade, distributing to hotels and restaurants. All orders are fulfilled using a distribution network which has an overnight service that can deliver goods promptly and in optimum condition anywhere in the UK. All exported goods are distributed using an overnight express service via Boulogne, France.
Ian Perkes’ primary aim is to run an efficient, high standard fish merchant’s business, specializing in prime products with the emphasis being on premium quality rather than quantity. There is a fleet of around 50 boats landing into Brixham which fish for one day only and a fleet of approximately 25 beam trawlers which fish 3-4 days at a time. The company maintains a twenty-four-hour delivery for fish, from catch to delivery.
